The general superintendence , direction and control of the affairs of the Council and its income and property shall vest in Governing Body
of the Council which shall be called the Executive Committee , herein after referred to as the "Committee"
The Executive Committee shall be consituted as under :-
Development Commissioner ( Handicrafts ), Ministry of Textiles , Government of India, shall be Ex-Officio Vice Chairperson
Additional Development Commissioner ( Handicrafts ), Ministry of Textiles , Government of India, shall be Ex-Officio Vice Chairperson
Eight members elected from amongst the Corporate and Institutional members of the Council for a period of 3 years each time in such a manner
so that there are two elected representative from each of the North,East , West and South Zone.
Three members being distinguished persons who have made significant conrtibutions to the development and promotion of Handicrafts to be
co-opted by Executive Committee for such period (s) not exceeding one year each time.
Director of the Council shall be Ex-Officio non voting member secretary.
Provided that the total strength of the Executive Committee shall not exceed 14 and shall not be less than 5 at any time.
The elected members of the Committee may, from time to time , elect from among their number one Vice-Chairperson for a period not exceeding one year each time as they may decide.
Where a member of the Committee becomes such a member by the reason of the office he holds , his membership shall terminate when he ceases to hold that office.
A member of the Committee shall cease to be such a member, if he
- Dies
- Resigns his membership
- Becomes of unsound mind
- Becomes insolvent
- Is convicted of a criminal offence involving moral turpitude
- If except in the case of Director of the Council he accepts a full time appointment in the Council.
- Fails to attend three consecutive meetings of the Committee without the leave of the Committee.
A member of the Committee may resign his office by a letter addressed to the Chairperson.
